Monoprix Partners with TMT for Egypt Expansion
Monoprix, the French retail giant, is set to expand its footprint in Africa by entering the Egyptian market. Already present in 16 countries, Monoprix has partnered with local franchise TMT For Food and Beverages to bring its renowned brand to Egypt. The first stores are expected to open in 2025, marking a significant milestone in Monoprix’s international growth strategy.
Why Egypt? A Market with High Potential
Egypt presents a promising market for Monoprix, driven by rapid urbanization and growing demand for modern retail experiences. Alfred Hawawini, CEO of Monoprix, emphasized the company’s excitement:
“We are thrilled to introduce Egyptians to the Monoprix brand. Through this partnership, we aim to bring our unique vision of urban retailing, combining local needs with the quality standards that define us.”
Egypt’s booming population and evolving consumer habits make it an attractive destination for international retailers. Monoprix plans to leverage its expertise in product assortment, store design, and customer experience, while TMT will adapt operations to local preferences.
What the Partnership Brings
TMT, a leader in Egypt’s proximity retail sector with over 180 Circle K stores, is tasked with managing local operations. Mahmoud Monir Soliman, founder of TMT, shared his enthusiasm:
“Our passion for quality and customer satisfaction aligns perfectly with Monoprix’s values. Together, we’ll elevate the shopping experience for Egyptian consumers.”
The collaboration is expected to stimulate the local economy by creating jobs, supporting Egyptian suppliers, and modernizing the retail landscape.
What to Expect from Monoprix Stores in Egypt
Monoprix stores in Egypt will offer a mix of fresh food, local specialties, and non-food items such as fashion, beauty, and home decor. The goal is to provide a convenient and enjoyable shopping experience tailored to the fast-paced lifestyles of urban Egyptians.
A Global Growth Story
Monoprix’s expansion into Egypt is part of its broader international strategy. Since entering Tunisia in the 1990s, the retailer has grown to 140 stores across 16 countries. With plans to open 15-20 stores annually starting in 2025, Monoprix continues to solidify its global presence while respecting local market dynamics.
