Co-op is rolling out a series of pop-up cafes in Edinburgh, Cardiff, and London, along with over 100 local events, to highlight the value of co-operation and grow member engagement. These family-friendly pop-ups will allow members to meet Co-op’s Board and National Members’ Council, learning more about the benefits of membership in a relaxed setting.
Visitors to the cafes can enjoy free Fairtrade coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cake. Activities are planned to let Co-op Member-Owners share their thoughts, with chances to win tickets to shows at Co-op Live, the UK’s largest indoor arena.
Non-members are welcome too, offering them a chance to explore the benefits of joining Co-op. The events are part of Co-op’s ‘Owned by You. Right By You’ campaign launched earlier this year to show how membership creates value for both members and their communities.
Co-op will also hold events in stores, Funeralcare branches, and community spaces, providing information on member-only prices, exclusive offers, and the impact of the Local Community Fund. Since 2020, members have helped support over 20,000 community causes focused on youth, mental health, food access, and environmental sustainability.
The pop-up cafes will be held at:
- Edinburgh: Leith Street, St James Quarter, on Nov 15.
- Cardiff: Mermaid Quay, on Nov 22.
- London: Shoreditch High St, on Nov 23.
Co-op highlights that these events showcase how co-operation benefits both members and the wider community, offering members a voice in how the business operates, savings on everyday items, and a chance to contribute to meaningful local causes.
Co-op aims to reach eight million members by 2030, continuing its mission to strengthen community ties through co-operation. More about Co-op membership is at coop.co.uk/membership.
